Everyday filing

How do I file a whole backlog at once?

Auto-file everything in the INBOX in one run — only high-confidence matches are filed, the rest wait for review.

Got years of unsorted documents? Drop them all into INBOX/ and let a batch run take the first pass.

Run it

  1. Drop everything into INBOX/ — dossier’s watcher picks the files up as they land (or press Process New in the header).
  2. Right-click the INBOX folder → Auto File All…
  3. Watch the run sheet: filed, to-review, and skipped counts update live. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are OCR’d automatically during the run so they can be classified too.

What gets filed, what waits

  • Only proposals at or above your confidence threshold (Settings → Auto-apply) are filed automatically.
  • Everything uncertain goes to the review queue — you decide with one click or one drag.
  • Duplicates are detected by content hash and set aside for the Compare dialog: keep, trash, or keep both.
  • Nothing is ever deleted or overwritten by a batch run, and every move can be undone.

After the run

Check the Needs Review smart clip — it collects everything that wants a human decision. A backlog of thousands typically ends up as a short queue of genuinely ambiguous documents.
