An AI that files your documents.
Nothing ever leaves your machine.
dossier reads each new file, looks at the way you already file, and proposes exactly where it belongs — on your disk, in plain folders, with the AI you choose (or none).
Documents pile up faster than you can file them — and most “organizers” want to swallow them into their own library. dossier doesn’t. Your files stay in plain folders on your disk; dossier just helps you keep up.
Read as a German “Geburtsurkunde”. The issue date becomes the filename — matching the rule it learned from your past filings.
It reads, then files
dossier understands each document’s content — not just its filename — and proposes exactly where it belongs, with a one-line reason and a confidence level. You stay in control of every move.
Content-aware, not filename-guessingEach person → a top-level folder.
Group by life area: identity, school, bank, health.
Use the document’s own issue date.
Keep translations beside originals.
Your folders, your rules
dossier applies the convention you wrote and learns from every correction you make. No import, no lock-in — your files never move out of plain folders on your disk.
No import · no lock-inStays on your machine
dossier runs locally. Pick a hosted provider — Claude, OpenAI or OpenRouter — and only the snippet needed to classify is sent; pick a local Ollama model and nothing leaves at all. Your choice, every time.
Local-first · your data stays yoursOnly high-confidence matches are filed automatically. Uncertain ones wait in a review queue — nothing is trashed or overwritten.
Tame the whole pile
Batch-file a backlog in one pass, review only the uncertain ones in a queue, and search across filenames, AI summaries, your notes, and extracted text. Thousands of files become a handful of real decisions.
Backlog of thousands → a short queueBuilt with care
A finished tool, not a prototype
Every surface gets the same attention — light and calm, dense where it needs to be, never noisy.
Keep the German original together with the Czech translation.
How it works
Three steps. Then it keeps up with you.
Point dossier at a folder
Your existing document folder — wherever it already lives on disk.
It reads each new file and proposes a target path
Content-aware, with a one-line reason and a confidence level.
You accept, or redirect with a drag
And it learns from the correction — so the next one is better.
In the box
The details that decide it
Reads 35 file types
PDF, Word & Pages, Excel & Numbers, PowerPoint & Keynote, OpenDocument, images (JPG, PNG, TIFF), e-mails (EML, MSG), EPUB, Markdown, CSV and plain text — plus archives and fonts, filed as assets without being opened.
The AI you choose
Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, OpenRouter — or a local Ollama model, so nothing ever leaves your Mac. Keys live in the macOS Keychain, and the live model picker shows what your account (or your machine) actually offers.
An assistant with hands
Ask in plain language — “find the lease papers and clip them together”. The assistant searches your documents, groups them into paperclips, and answers with clickable links that jump straight to the file in the tree, list and preview.
Paperclips
Group related files across folders without moving them: manual clips you curate, smart clips like Filed This Week and Needs Review, and saved searches that live-update with badge counts.
OCR & full-text search
Scanned, image-only PDFs get a text layer via Apple Vision — on your Mac, not in a cloud. Search then covers filenames, AI summaries, your notes and the full extracted text of every document.
Quality of life
A watched INBOX that picks up new files by itself, duplicate compare, detachable panels for a second screen, your own date format, trash with restore — and undo where it matters.
Your filing, finally caught up.
Download dossier and point it at a folder. It’ll take the first pass — you stay in control of the rest.
